The film The Girl from the penal colony (1994) directed by Jonathan Kaplan was filmed for the TV series Rebel Highway. This is the eponymous remake of the 1957 film Reform School Girl. Pretty girl Donna Paterson (Aimee Graham) runs half the movie in a tight T-shirt. And the story begins with the fact that two sisters live in the house of their uncle with bad inclinations, he begins to pester the elder and does not let her out of the house. But the situation is resolved by the tough guy Vince, who quickly calmed down the “dad”.

And now freedom! You can take a ride at night to a party! Or go to the Griffith Observatory for a cuddle. Joey from the super-sitcom Friends (Matt LeBlanc) plays the handsome bad guy Vince. His car is stolen, but if anything, he runs fast and climbs through fences deftly. But he does not drive very well and is not very attentive at the wheel.
So the good girl stuck by accident and stupidity. It turned out to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time – a classic of the genre. And here is our Donna in a correctional facility. This is a colony of strict regime, where the headmistress rules with the habits of an English lady. Where beautiful girls also have someone to stand up to. Where, however, you can retire to the shed, have a beer and have mutual girlish sex. In the lesbian scene, everything is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. They don’t shoot like that now. Of course, you can remember the Life of Adele, but there is too much with it, the scenes are too frank and the main character walks with a strange face all the time.
Donna needs to get out of this place and be free as soon as possible. But the culprit of her imprisonment appears and reminds her that it is better for her to forget some of the facts of his criminal biography, otherwise her younger sister will be in trouble. And dirty Uncle Charlie is looking forward to when she’s already grown up. And the only chance for Donna to shorten her term is to win the running competition, and this is skillfully manipulated by the headmistress. Will Donna win?

Some songs are also heard in other Rebel Highway series, the soundtrack, though short, is pleasant and appropriate. It is a pity that it did not include the music of composer Hummie Mann, recorded with the participation of interesting guitarist Paul Viapiano. The lack of a published soundtrack is generally a gap in all these series.

At the end there are credits telling about the future fate of the girls, who do you think will be the winner in life, and who is the loser?
About the women’s prison in the same Rebel Highway there is a film under the completely artless title Girls In Prison (by the way, the main character was also imprisoned there for absolutely nothing). And I also remember the series “Orange is the hit of the season,” but of course the prison is tough, and the topics are topical, and in general it’s strange that that heroine voluntarily went to the slaughter.
