An 8-episode Marvel miniseries on the Disney Channel+ Wanda/Vision (WandaVision, 2021) launched on January 15th. Wanda Maximoff and Vision are heroes from the Marvel cinematic universe. The first 2 episodes of Vandavision are stylizations of cozy black-and-white sitcoms of the 50s like I Love Lucy. It’s really very funny how the characters act out the gags and mannerisms of those analog times. The show features off-screen laughter to create the right atmosphere (in fact, it was the audience present on the set who laughed). Aesthetics of the good old 50s with appropriate music: the soundtrack to WandaVision.
The plots are cute and funny. In the first episode, Vision forgot about the anniversary, and in the second, a married couple is struggling to socialize by participating in a local amateur performance, a talent contest. “All for the sake of the children.” A very funny series about an illusionist. Nothing is real in real magic.

And it seems like these guys are the most powerful and powerful, but it’s hard for them to handle the usual non-superhero cases. It would seem – take and conjure food, but superheroes always go around. And anyway, why would an android go to work, work and wait for a promotion when you don’t need food? Everything is topsy-turvy, like in Monty Python, when in the superhero world a bicycle repairman actually turns out to be a superhero.
A new illusion
I also liked Elizabeth Olsen in the role of Hank I’s wife, she is very organic in the roles of girls from the past. I remember Paul Bettany from Dogville, however, the actor is not thrilled with the film that made him famous, in any case, he has been starring in Marvel films since 2015.
The series takes place after the events shown in Avengers: Endgame. In the first episodes, there is almost no connection with the Marvel universe, everything is pretty tight. All we see is that there is a fourth wall, the characters are loaded into the matrix and everything is not as it seems. Everything is much more complicated and the series is full of Easter eggs. Will the puzzle still add up (or unfold?) farther. Gradually, something breaks the idyll of our couple: either a red helicopter, or a mysterious Beekeeper. In b/W movies, color comes. And it looks like a shaking of the foundations and the end of an innocent era. The American ideal dream is under threat.
And the scarlet witch is still not called the Scarlet Witch. But you see, they will still be called.
