There is one simple and effective thing that can brighten up your dull day and add joy to those days that are not bad without it – Lemon Drop. Lemon Drop? Drop The Lemon? Lemon Damage? It doesn’t matter. I heard about him for the first time from the track Drink by Lil’ John. There were a lot of things listed there, but it was this cocktail that attracted me with the simplicity of preparation, the availability of ingredients and the promising result.
Recipe:
1 part vodka
1 part lemon juice
Mix the ingredients and add sugar, at the rate of one cube per 30 ml of liquid. Stir the sugar until dissolved. Serve chilled.
My notes:
The best way, in my opinion, is to serve small shots, about 40 ml each. But, of course, if you want to drink a glass of vodka with lemon, no one will dissuade you. Probably.
My brown sugar cubes are pretty small. About a quarter smaller than standard cubes of white sugar. So if you suddenly made a large portion and are going to pile up a lot of sugar, it’s better to add it gradually and try what happened. It’s better to add a little more later than to screw it up, right?
There is a good option: replace vodka with tequila, and lemons with limes. The biggest difference is that mostly Mexican limes are imported to us, and these are the real limes (as much as a lime can be real, because it is originally a hybrid). And these very real limes have a bitter aftertaste. Either consider this, or look for other limes… or just don’t do it. Personally, it seems to me that this bitter aftertaste is the whole essence of lime, and it is the Mexican lime with tequila that perfectly reflects the whole character of the cocktail.
For tomorrow to be better than yesterday. Cheers, comrades.
