Blood, Guts, Bullets & Octane cover

The Blood Guts Bullets And Octane or Cool Name, Tosca And Pontiac

And this time we’re going to tell you about a low-grade action movie called Blood Guts Bullets and Octane (Blood Guts Bullets & Octane). The film is somewhat tedious and definitely delayed, and, in general, I didn’t like it. But it seems to me that it would be too uninteresting to write only about what I like. Besides, for some reason I still decided to watch this movie, right? So there were reasons, and I should tell you about them. At the same time, it should be noted in advance that there is a certain charm in the film, and although I am somewhat sorry for the time spent on this movie, I still got some positive emotions in the process of watching it.

Blood, Guts, Bullets And Octane Joe Carnahan
Meet Joe Carnahan – director and one of the main characters of the film

So, why did I decide to watch this movie? Well, the answer is simple: cars. As the comments on this movie on imcdb say, “cars are better than the movie itself” and “this movie is worth watching just for the sake of cars” – and I completely agree with these comments. It is unclear what exactly guided the filmmakers, but for some reason they collected a whole set of American classics for all more or less significant places for the plot: Pontiac Catalina 67th, Oldsmobile Toronado 66th and Ford Mustang 68th. Plus, not very classic, but still the same muscular Chevy Camaro 95th and the only exception to this herd of horses is the modest European baby Porsche 911 SC Cabrio 83rd. Well, the center of the whole plot, from the beginning to the end of the film, is the 1964 Pontiac Tempest LeMans, a convertible with a 326 V8 under the hood of the Honduran burgundy color. This car is, in fact, a real antihero of the film, full of dark secrets and attracting problems to itself. Suspense is built around him, the beginning and the end of the film. In short, if you are a car lover like me, then you can safely go and watch this movie.

Well, despite the fact that the plot is a rare piece of gum, it should be given credit in the sense that they tried to spin it properly, and if you have the strength to keep track of it and not fall asleep at those moments when there is not a single cute car on the screen, then perhaps you will even pleasantly surprised. And, besides, this whole movie has some kind of rock and roll subtext. Or maybe it just seemed to me, due to the fact that the very delusional dialogue about Johnny Cash is the most ingrained moment in this whole movie. At least, I still remember him from this whole movie.

It is worth mentioning separately only that Joe Carnahan will start shooting crazy tapes a little later. Trump Aces, Stretch, Team A – and in many of them, by the way, maslkars appear to one degree or another. Comrade Carnahan clearly has certain feelings for the American monsters of the 70s. There is no way that the BloodGuts Bullets and Octane can offer the same hurricane action as the same Trump Aces, but it is this film that is most fully devoted to cars of that era. Carnahan’s hand, his signature features and style in general are easily recognized. The actor, however, is so-so out of him. That, in general, is all. Alternative opinions are welcome, but in my opinion, a very average kinzo.

A scavenger that feeds on forgotten art. A drug addict sitting on a vinyl needle. A hardcore cheater, of course, who doesn't enjoy video games. A Zealot who believes that God created humans only so that they could create a V-shaped engine.
